Dear MHYC Boat Owners,

As you will know, and may even have heard on radio, this coming 10 days is going to be very special at the Club – with our hosting the 2012 Access World and International Sailing Regatta – majority of sailors being disabled in some way. In total we will have some 120 contestants – in 95 boats – coming from 10 countries – and already we have some 150 of our Club Members and others contributing as volunteers either on or off the water.

A superb effort – and hopefully it will be a fun and satisfying experience for all.

However there is one further area in which we could provide further enjoyment to the non competing supporters and visitors – and that would be by way of our providing a small fleet of boats ( yachts / power boats) to take some out to watch the racing - with selection and numbers to be done in the same way we do Twilight nights – on the white board.

Sir James Hardy – patron of the regatta, will have his beautiful vintage yacht Nerada out on course providing this coverage, and it would be wonderful if we could have a few of our boats to compliment the fleet.

Racing is close in – around Chinaman’s beach area – through to Balmoral and out probably toward the Bomboras of Dobroyd – so motor only – and each trip no more than 2 hours – T Head or Marina berth pick ups.

Should you have a half day free, could you make yourself and your boat available (or even more if you can spare the time ). Maybe our Wednesday sailors might be able to take this on as a special pre race adventure – with a mega fleet available on that morning ??

Hope you might be able to assist – if so, would appreciate your advice of dates available – whether you need crew (suggest skipper plus 2 on each boat ), also the number of guests you can take. Regrettably I doubt that many of us could safely accommodate wheelchair persons – but there will still be lots of other willing takers.

To start the ball rolling we know that Viva la Vita is available for most days – but will be looking for a couple of crew.
