Thoughts from a Day on the Hugh S George

What an interesting day on the start boat. The wind was out of the North and gusting up to 20 knots. The 16 foot skiffs had their State Championships based out of Many Sailing Club. As a result the PRO decided that the only way to allow the skiffs to race free from interference by MHYC was to go to Windward/Leeward course.
The whole set up was observed by a pod of 5 dolphins that ran the line a few times and gave their approval. Read more...

2010 Facci Regatta

MHYC is hosting the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry Regatta. Members are requested not to leave their yachts on the Marina from Thursday Twilight Race to allow visiting yachts to berth for the regatta.

The monthly Kid's Disco will be held in the Quarterdeck from 6pm-8pm. Bring your kids along for 2 hours of fun and dancing with Bop Till You Drop. $10 per child (includes drink & snack).

Guest speaker, Mark Prince, from the Australian Hydrographic Service will be speaking on GPS chart datum and navigation . Information essential for those sailing up and down the coast. Mark was also our special guest speaker at this year's Skippers Briefing.

Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship

Entries are now open for the Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship being held on Saturday 27th November and Sunday 28th November, 2010.
Click here for the Notice of Race and to enter. Free entry for MHYC Gillawa Sheild and Ocean Pointscore entrants (for those yachts in the OPS series who wish to compete on the windward leeward course may do so and apply for average points for its OPS races).
This year's event will see the reintroduction of perpetual trophies, as well as a number of fantastic prizes for individual place getters, from Mount Gay Rum and Henri Lloyd.
Those not competing offshore, the annual 7 Islands Race will be held on Saturday 27th November. A Clubhouse race taking competitiors to Spectacle Island and back. Click here to enter.
Members are advised that race fees apply to both events. Members entered in either Ocean Pointscore Series, Gillawa Shield Series or Feature Events Series do not need to pay race fees but shall still complete an electronic entry form at www.ssorc.mhyc.com.au.

Natalie and I are overwhelmed by the generosity of the many, friends and well-wishers at the club who have given us warm words of encouragement and donated money to our cause. We are deeply appreciative. Without your help we wouldn’t be here and the future would be very bleak indeed. We now feel that we are taking this huge challenge on as a team and that all of you are willing Nat to beat this dreadful disease.
