Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club E-News. Another successful charity regatta was held last Friday with the ASX-Reuters Charity Regatta raising $63,000. It is wonderful to have so many MHYC boats and members involved in these events - your support is greatly appreciated.

In the early 1980s, a small company began selling sunglasses on the beaches of Maui, Hawaii. However, the sunglasses quickly proved to be no match for the Hawaiian sun's severe glare and harmful ultraviolet rays. In this case, the need was for a sunglass that would eliminate the harsh Hawaiian glare without distorting the beautiful colors of the island scenery. Spring Series Race 7 Report
A clear blue sky day with just a hint of North Easter in the wind - what a change from the last week! The BOM forecasted a change in the evening so all was looking great. However as the boats motored out, clouds were massing in the North West. It looked like the change was coming early.

Last week whilst enjoying a pleasant lunch the race committee observed a number of yachts round the MH inflatable mark at Manly Point to starboard rather than to port. Two yachts then attempted to correct their error, but incorrectly - click here.
New Members' "Welcome Night" - tomorrow night
Reminder to all our new members of Middle Harbour Yacht Club - our "Welcome Night" is on tomorrow night Friday 29th October, 2010, at 6pm. Come along and meet your Flag Officers and hear about all the activities happening at the Club. Trevor Joyce from Mariner Boating Holidays will also be talking about the 2010 MHYC Yacht Rally to Turkey. All welcome.

Invitation for 2010 Travellers Trophy
NSWIDOA would like to invite Optimist sailors to participate in the 2010 Traveller's Trophy Series. This is a great opportunity to experience sailing at different venues and meet Opti sailors from other clubs in NSW, without necessarily committing to a whole series. The three venues are RPAYC Sunday 10th Oct (part of Spring Cup), Canberra Yacht Club Sunday 31st Oct (part of ACT dinghy Champs) and MHYC Sunday 21st Nov. The Mount Gay Rum Harbour Trek & Women's Regatta
30th October 2010
Middle Harbour welcomes Mount Gay Rum as the sponsor of this years Harbour Trek and Womens Regatta. Multiple divisions, including all female crew and female helm across spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions. Racing will be on Sydney Harbour with a Club House Start at 1230 hours and Finish. MHYC encourages all skippers to enter especially our female members to take the rein of helming in this year's Mount Gay Rum Harbour Trek.

Entries are now open for the Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship being held on Saturday 27th November and Sunday 28th November, 2010.

Help Save Natalie
Flying Fish's Andy Fairclough, his partner Natalie and their 15 month old baby daughter Elkie are facing a tragic situation and need your support. Natalie is suffering from an aggressive form of Leukaemia and the small family need to raise $80,000 to help pay for special travel with a medical escort for further treatment in Germany.
Andy and Nat have exhausted all the usual treatment options avaialble in Australia and are now hoping to save her life, by enrolling Nat in clinical trials for a new drug, taking place in Germany. Unfortunately Nat is too sick to travel to Europe as a normal passenger and a large amount of donated funds are being sort. If you feel you can help, read their story here.
