Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club E-News. We had a great turn out for last week's Meet and Greet Crew night with approximately 30 people in attendance. Many thanks to Phil Clinton and his team for co-ordinating this - both skippers and crew found it a very worthwhile and successful night.

Competitors are reminded that they must display navigation lights after sunset. Click here to see what lights should be displayed whilst racing: http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/campaigns/bright.html. Boats are also reminded to illuminate their sail numbers as they approach the finish line.
Members are encouraged to be available for the presentation commencing from 2100hrs from the Sandbar, numerous prizes for all divisions are on offer. Prizes & or Awards not collected at the time of the presentation shall lapse.

Flare Practice & Safety Exercise- Monday 18th October, 2010
Join the Cruising Division and bring those old flares (no parachute rockets, please) and let them off on the beach in front of the clubhouse. A discussion on safety equipment and methods - trends and future directions as well as demonstrations of current equipment will follow the flare practice at the Cruising Division monthly meeting.
The flare practice will begin at 7.30pm.

The Mount Gay Rum Harbour Trek, 30th October 2010
Middle Harbour welcomes Mount Gay Rum as the sponsor of this years Harbour Trek and Womens Regatta. Multiple divisions, including all female crew and female helm across spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions. Racing will be on Sydney Harbour with a Club House Start and Finish. MHYC encourages all skippers to enter especially our female members to take the rein of helming in this year Mount Gay Rum Harbour Trek.

Cruising Division - Guest Speaker, Senior Forecaster BOM
The Cruising Division's guest speaker for their November meeting is Julie Evans, senior forecaster from the Bureau of Meteorology. Julie will be speaking on the Bureau’s marine services, including the recent changes (and the reasons for this) and the future plans to improve.
The meeting will be held on Monday 15th November, 2010, from 6pm.
Return Crew Wanted - Lord Howe Island Race
