Opti Teams Racing Training at MHYC
Last Sunday, 10 Optimists from NSW, including 2 of our own members of MHYC Opti Squad development, were involved in a team race training day conducted by NSW IODA. Tom Brewer, from NSW IODA, kicked off the training with the able assistance of 4 other coaches. This was the 1st teams racing conducted by NSW IODA and involved the tactics and strategy required for the competitive environment of teams racing. The light wind made for challenging training conditions, however, all sailors received a comprehensive training day in the skills of team racing. A Team’s race day is being planned for early next year and MHYC aims to have a team represent our club at this event. Other regattas that the Opti Squad will be attending include, Spring Cup in Pittwater in October, ACT championships and the Opti Nationals in January. For more information on Junior sailing at MHYC, please click here or call into the club.
